Quick iPhone Editing Hacks
The most valuable tool a blogger, small business owner or even the every entreprenuer has is their phone. In last 2 weeks on the blog I talked about two things. The first was some tips on how you can use your phone to take better photos. The other video I did the product flat lay demo where I showed you how I constructed a simple flat lay with some beautiful stationary cards. This week…
… I am focusing in on how you can edit with a few simple tricks to ensure you’re still posting quality content, even if its from your phone!
So remember the image that I used in the product flat lay demo? If not, stop now and go watch that. We are going to take that same photo and edit it with a few basic tips. You don’t have to have an app or any purchased filters to tone of your image and make it post worthy.
To start go to your image on the phone. Pull that image up and at the bottom you will see that there are a few options that you can click on. Click the EDIT button at the bottom, it pops up with a few icons you can select. Click the Sun Dial looking icon at the bottom of that menu. This will show you a list of options you can use to make a few manual tweaks to your photos and enhance them on the spot.
I personally default to increasing the brightness, some contrast and even the shadows. You can also consider adjusting the color and/or saturation to help add a little pop to the colors in your image so the photo doesn’t feel so flat. BUT I do have to warn you to be careful not to up your color or contrast too much so you don’t obstruct the natural color palette and throw the colors off brand.
All in all editing can be just that simple. With enough light, the right props, a simple backdrop and your cell phone there is no reason you can’t have better images. Don’t get defeated if you still feel lost. I created an easy online course, The Flat lay Method, to help you break down the process of shooting flat lays at an easy to do pace. See you again soon, friend!
