3 Popular Ways To Market Your Products

3 Popular Ways To Market Your Products

3 Popular Ways To Market Your Products

There are plenty of options out there, when it comes to marketing your product brand. But, what methods are best for your business? Let’s look at 3 popular ways to market your products.

GIFs – GIFs are a great option for marketing your products. They provide a quick, fun way to convey information about your products and they are fairly inexpensive to create. They can also be used for product listings on various e-commerce platforms, such as Shopify. With GIFs, you can easily clip images together in order to showcase various aspects, angles, or functionality of your products.

BONUS: Once you’ve created a GIF, you can download that video file in an MP4 and use it for other social media marketing, such as Instagram stories or Reels.

Influencer / Affiliate Focused Videos – Another popular trend in product marketing is the use of influencer and affiliate content in Ads. This can involve using content that your influencer or affiliate has already created, or you may be able to partner with them in order to have them produce specific Reels or video reviews that you can then use in your Ads. Influencer and affiliate content is relatable and more likely to convert, due to its causal, authentic, non-scripted format. Most customers are also likely to stop and listen to an Ad when it comes from a familiar face, like an influencer they follow!

Animated Infographics – It may seem basic, but adding an animation that makes your text move or features pop up at different times helps to create intrigue, while also educating your customers on what your product is and does. This has proven to be very successful in tech focused products, like a baby bottle warmer, or in things like ethical fashion where there are plenty of tips, tricks, and information to be shared.

Want to learn more about marketing your products, using these methods and others? Let’s discuss how I can help you best market your product brand!

How to Get the Social Media Images You Need in a Photoshoot

How to Get the Social Media Images You Need in a Photoshoot

How to Get the Social Media Images You Need in a Photoshoot

In a content driven world, it’s all about the number of UNIQUE images you have to work with. Often, it can be a struggle to get the images you need. That’s why I’ve pulled together a few ways to help YOU, the business owner, get the images you need from a Photoshoot to produce the best content.

When it come to social media, or marketing in general, what’s most cost effective isn’t always the most ideal. That’s why it’s wise to have a few different photoshoots when getting started. Most business owners can fail here, at step one (starting from strategy), because they work backwards. They begin creating content, using photos from a previous photoshoot. Often, these photos were used for their website, before they had an established marketing strategy or firm direction for content. Sometimes you can pull from the website shoot – that’s not to say the images wouldn’t apply – but here is what it might look like to approach a photoshoot with more intention in order to get the social media images you need.

Start From Your Strategy

Strategy often gets confused with the content plan or the execution of the strategy. Your marketing strategy should be the foundation and outline for your overall goals, objectives, marketing channels, KPI’s or key performance metrics, etc. From there, you can lay out exactly where and how you are going to show up. You can begin identifying the types of content you want to test and start sharing with the world. As you begin creating the content plan, you will be able to determine which aspects of your services or products you want to share and quickly arrive at the type of content you need. It can be easy to skip this step because, as a business owner, you sometimes feel like you know everything about your product, when in actuality, it can be beneficial to stop and ask for outside perspective in order to better understand what it is that others really want to know about it.

Be Specific

Creative reign matters! It’s important to clarify how you specifically want the images to come together. As a creative and commercial photographer myself, I know this for a fact. Each person will see and envision an image differently, so it’s important to provide specific information, but also allow your photographer space to capture and create images that reflect your vision. In this case, specific means providing direction (types of images you need to best connect your audience with your products/services).

Lets say you want to share a how-to use GIF – you will want to outline that you need a minimum of 3-10 images that show how to press the button, scoop the product, try it on, show how the back looks, etc. These types of details help to ensure you get the type of images you need to make the GIF. Being specific gives you creative reign and gives your photographer the creative freedom they need to help you envision what your images might look like and capture images that achieve your goal.

Get Down to The Details

Thinking about props, backdrops, do’s and don’ts is no one’s favorite part. You’re busy, you need to market and you want to get down to making money. But this is another key piece in the photoshoot chain to ensure your content is on point, represents your brand well and helps truly bring your vision to life. So, getting down to the details is an important step in communicating your photoshoot vision and achieving the images you need to create the best content for your brand.

Consider your branding – Do you have lots of color and want to keep it that way? You probably need to highlight 2-3 specific background colors you desire to have in the shoot. You don’t have to manage the specifics of what shot needs what background, but letting a photographer know you need specific colors for your social media will make a world of difference.

Let’s talk what you don’t like – This should be easy, but after 8 years I can tell you it’s one thing that’s usually left blank on a questionnaire for the photoshoot. I won’t get into the why, but I can tell you that you need to identify props, flowers, colors or specific things that DO NOT fit your brand.

Let’s highlight an example – You have an earthy, sustainable vitamin, like the brand, Ritual. You know in your mind that it’s healthy, made from all natural ingredients, and has no synthetic casings. What you may fail to mention is that you want it to be relevant to the everyday millennial lifestyle, not directly related to plants, dirt, farming, etc. So, your photographer could run off with the vision of the pill sprouting from the earth, and while that might work for a few photos, you have no models, no lifestyle, in-home elements and thus, images you may feel don’t truly align with your marketing strategy and goals.

To get the images you need from your next photoshoot, make sure to start from your strategy, be specific, and get down to the details!

Quality Matters in All Areas of Your Marketing!

Quality matters in all areas of your marketing!

When was the last time you purchased something from a store or online shop that had:

  • A poorly designed website
  • Minimal text or nondescript copy
  • Sub-par graphics or blurry photos
  • A poor user experience, making it difficult to navigate and find options and information about the product or service

The lack of quality content and your poor experience interacting with that content probably deterred you from purchasing products or services from that business, right? The truth is, quality matters across all areas of your marketing! To drive sales, expand your reach, and cultivate a loyal customer base, you need to provide high-quality, cohesive content that your audience can easily engage with.

This means focusing on all areas of your marketing:

  • Professional photos, videos, and graphics
  • Compelling copy
  • Consistent engagement

Sometimes, it can be easy to focus too heavily on only one area of your marketing. You may be spending a great deal of focusing on your social media strategy, while neglecting to utilize other areas of your marketing, like your email list or website.

While it can be helpful to identify the areas that are generating the highest number of sales or conversions, you don’t want to overlook the other areas of your marketing. For example, if you only focus on your Instagram strategy, you may miss out on an opportunity to connect with users on TikTok, Facebook, or other social platforms. And, if your only focus on social media marketing, you could miss out on the opportunity to connect with non-social media users through outlets, like email campaigns, website content, etc.

By providing high-quality, cohesive content throughout all areas of your marketing, you can set yourself up for greater success!

If you’re looking to improve the quality of your content or start creating content that authentically represents your brand, it’s time to check out my new offerings.

Affiliates & Influencers? Do they work?

Affiliates & Influencers? Do they work?

Affiliates & Influencers? Do they work?

This week I want to talk about affiliates and influencers. Affiliates and influencers are things we often hear a lot about, especially as small business owners and online business owners. I wanted to provide some insight on this topic to help you determine whether or not affiliate and influencer marketing might be the right choice for you.

Do affiliates and influencers really work? Yes they do, if you structure things in the right way and you look for the right type of people.

Let’s start with affiliates. Affiliates get a percent back on any clicks to purchase. Any affiliate is someone who may have written a blog, or someone who might post and promote a specific product with an associated discount. Affiliates can be a great way to promote growth in your business, especially in the beginning.

Influencers do often use affiliate codes as well, but they are primarily considered content creators. Influencers design and create content that is meant to appeal to their audience. They know how their audience reacts, how to get the highest number of views from their audience, and how to get the best response from their audience on any specific product they are going to market. For example, if you work with an influencer to market your brand, that influencer will create content that promotes your products and is tailored to specifically connect with their audience.

Affiliates and influencers can work if you are strategic in how you structure things. When looking at working with an affiliate or influencer to help grow your brand, it’s important to make sure that affiliate or influencer aligns with your business and your goal.

  • Do they have the right audience?
  • Do they have the right style?
  • Who are they appealing to?

You really want to be specific and research the right kind of affiliates and influencers to use for your business.

Here are a few tips that I recommend when looking at partnering with an affiliate or hiring an influencer to help market your business:

Make sure they have good communication skills. I can’t stress this enough! If they are unable to communicate with you, follow-up, or stay in touch, then they are likely to be unreliable and that can lead to problems. This could burn a bridge for you, especially if the affiliate or influencer is new to their industry. So, make sure they have good communication skills.

  • Do they respond back in a timely manner?
  • Are they providing you with information?
  • Are they following up with you as much as you’re following up with them?

Are they giving you a timeline? It’s important to work with affiliates and influencers that approach your partnership or working relationship with professionalism.

Influencers should definitely have a timeline prepared, especially if they know what they’re doing and they’ve done this before. They should provide you with a timeline and information about what to expect when working with them (when they’ll post, the type of content they’ll post, when they’ll promote specific products, etc.). This gives you an opportunity to follow along and ensure they are getting everything done that they promised. When working with an influencer, you should have clarity on what to expect every step of the way, so you fully understand what you are paying for and you can better determine whether or not the specific influencer marketing is working for your business.

Affiliates should also provide professionalism. Do they communicate well? Are they responsive to you? And most importantly, are they excited about your product? Make sure to work with affiliates that are excited about what you have to offer and consider giving them a bit of the product. By providing them with some of your products, you help them strategize how they can talk about your brand, how they can promote the product, and how they can best share your products with their audience. This is a great long-term strategy for you and great short-term strategy for your affiliates.

Some activities to consider when looking at affiliates and influencers:

  • Blogging
  • Email marketing
  • Newsletters
  • Giveaways
  • Feature and Use Videos
  • Photo and Video Options

Some influencers and affiliates provide you with an option to purchase photos and videos that they’ve taken. This provides you with additional content to use in the future.

With influencers and affiliates it’s important to think about the back and forth. What do you want from the relationship? What are they willing to give to the relationship? And how best is it going to work for you and your business? It’s okay to be a little bit selfish because while they’re doing something for you, it also needs to work well for your brand because you’re giving something to them as well. You’re giving them free product, access to your business, or with affiliate links, a certain percentage back.

If you’ve been hesitant to hire an influencer, or you’re unsure about working with an affiliate, here are two tips to help you keep yourself from feeling like you’re going to get burned in a situation:

1.The first tip is specific to influencers. Influencers are typically paid, so with them I would recommend doing a deposit. There’s no problem with asking an influencer if they are willing to take a certain percentage of pay now, and the final installment at a later date. This helps ensure that they are going to show up and put in the work, just as much as you are.

2. The second tip is for working with affiliates. Give affiliates materials. Affiliates will often promote continually and with ease on all of their platforms if you give them resources. This may include free products, video suggestions, photo ideas, or templates they can use. It’s also helpful to touch base with them and checkup on how the affiliate link is working for them.

This year would be a great time to consider working with an influencer or an affiliate to promote growth within your business!

Does Your Business Need More Than 1 Marketing Channel?

Does Your Business Need More Than 1 Marketing Channel?

Does Your Business Need More Than 1 Marketing Channel?

This week, I want to dive into a common question that arises when we start to think about building a business, or we begin to look for ways to grow our business.

Do you need more than one sales or marketing channel?

The long and the short of it is, yes. You need to be in multiple places, especially when you’re starting out. While you can focus and put all of your efforts into one place as a small business owner, it’s great to take that content and repurpose it in multiple places. Style-conscious and luxury brands use social for awareness, until their brand is well known. So, unfortunately it is a necessary evil, but if you’re smart about it and you take that content and use it in multiple places, you can extend your reach and also figure out which channels will provide the best outcomes for your business. Using multiple channels provides you with opportunities to pivot and access which channels best serve your business and double down on the sales and the growth in areas where you can get the most traction. Believe it or not, not every platform and not every sales channel is going to work best for every single business. The best way to evaluate which avenues will work best for your business, is to test multiple platforms.

It’s important not to rely solely on one platform for growth. If you rely 100% on social media, you limit your growth and your business has a higher likelihood of plateauing and potentially failing. It’s important to create multiple sales and marketing channels so you can expand your reach and create growth through sales. The reality is, you can show up on social with cool content, like fun Reels or engaging posts, but if that content isn’t converting to sales, you won’t see the growth that’s necessary to keep your business running. If you’re not testing multiple platforms and evaluating how certain avenues can work for your business, you may miss out on opportunities for success in your industry or additional growth. The other problem with relying on only one avenue, is that you can become reliant on an algorithm or the specific functionality of a platform.

What I would recommend, to make sure you have more than one sales channel is to start simple. Go back to the basics. I’m a firm believer that there are certain bits of sales tactics and practices that have been in place for years that still work well in today’s environment. Sometimes it’s networking, even if it looks different than traditional networking models. Maybe you choose to attend a conference or a seminar and meet other people in your industry. This might look different from traditional networking, but it still provides an opportunity for you to create brand awareness and maybe even collaborate with others. I recommend sitting down and looking at your specific industry. You can then double down on what things (traditional, not social media related) are available to you. From there, you can determine other avenues, like your email list, that could provide sales for you. Once you’ve determined these additional channels, you can allocate more time toward building/working on those channels.

What if nothing’s working yet? What if you’re still trying to figure that out? That’s where it comes back to what’s going on in your industry. You may find events, conferences, seminars, workshops, or special events that you can attend to create networking opportunities and raise brand awareness. It’s important to look for opportunities where you can get out into your community and create brand visibility.

The truth is, you need more than one sales and marketing channel. Please don’t pigeonhole yourself to one, and please don’t rely solely on social media. Look for other ways you can expand your reach and grow your business.
