Developing New Ideas for Product Photos

Developing New Ideas for Product Photos

Developing New Ideas for Product Photos

Welcome to the Crystal Clear Podcast where we strive to empower the everyday creative boss to elevate and grow a business that matches your creativity and passion for creating products.

Things mentioned in this podcast episode:

As a creative director, I share my secrets on gathering inspiration for photos and using it to create something unique that will attract your ideal customer. This week I share my top 3 tips on creating unique product photos that will help your ideal customers stop their scroll and absorb what you are promoting.

Tips for Developing New Ideas for Product Photos:

  • Source Inspiration – Gather different pieces of things that you like and create something that is unique to you and your product. Look for the different ways people are using a product similar to yours, check the backgrounds they are using, the textures, and the lighting. Instagram, Pinterest, Google, and even magazines are all good places to go when looking for inspiration.
  • Get Specific with Color, Unique Details, or Specific products – Search on Pinterest for your brand colors and see what is popping up. Look up ideas by your industry and then by unique details that make your product stand out. Maybe that is how it is made, a specific ingredient or the way you package it.
  • Organize your inspiration ideas and centralize them in one place or folder – This could be done on a folder in your photos, a Pinterest board, or even an app like Collect to organize all of your photos and screenshots of inspiration.

After sourcing all of your inspiration it is time to sit down and pull out all the things that don’t fit. Once you pull out the things that don’t fit you can start to narrow ideas down and combine ideas to create something unique to you and your brand. When you are evaluating all of the bits of inspiration be very honest with yourself on what you do and don’t like about the images. Looking at the lighting, the shadows, the placement of different things in the images, and the colors. All of this will help you to create something unique to yourself.

If all of that overwhelms you then reach out to me and let’s talk about the ways I can help you as a creative director.

Content Marketing Trends for 2021

Content Marketing Trends for 2021

Content Marketing Trends for 2021

Welcome to the Crystal Clear Podcast where we strive to empower the everyday creative boss to elevate and grow a business that matches your creativity and passion for creating products.

Things mentioned in this podcast episode:

New year, new content trends? During the first month of the year, there is always talk about the marketing trends for the coming months. Today I want to share with you the top 4 marketing trends I see for 2021.

Top 4 Content Marketing Trends for 2021:

1. Natural Faced Models – In 2021, simple is in. Everyone is scaling back and putting a focus on taking care of themselves and making self-care a priority. You are going to see that companies will be looking for more simple and natural-looking images. Especially for skincare companies and more holistic based companies, you are going to notice more natural faced models with less makeup and a very simple, natural look.

2. Lifestyle photography – People are looking for authentic, natural, and in-action images. You will see more connections being made on how a product is intended to be used. Skincare in the bathroom, products on a nightstand beside the bed. Authentic connections to people, products, and what others are doing.

3. Keywords and search-friendly content- Instagram is becoming more search-friendly with the capability to search keywords on the app now. The combination of good keywords and great images will be what makes a difference in getting your content seen and noticed for 2021.

4. Video Marketing – Video is huge right now. All of the social media platforms are favoring video content. It is hands down the easiest way to get your products and content seen in 2021. Video ad’s have been proving to perform better in converting a cold market into a warm one and a warm market into buying customers.

These are the top 4 trends I see as being vital in your content marketing strategy for 2021. Trying and testing to see what is going to work for you is the best way. These 4 trends also complement each other nicely. For example, using a natural faced model in a lifestyle based photo for your video will pair well with good keywords on Instagram to help get your content seen. You will just have to play around will these different techniques and see what is working for your audience and performing well on your social platforms.

Making the Most of Your Photoshoots

Making the Most of Your Photoshoots

Making the Most of Your Photoshoots

Welcome to the Crystal Clear Podcast where we strive to empower the everyday creative boss to elevate and grow a business that matches your creativity and passion for creating products.

Things mentioned in this podcast episode:

We need more content and we need it NOW!! Did anyone else chant while reading that? Because I can just hear the chanting and applause as businesses are amping up for the year. One way to create more content is through photoshoots. In this episode, I am going to highlight how to make the most out of your photoshoots. Now you may be asking… How do I make the most out of my photoshoot, Crystal? Efficiency, that’s how. Anyone that works with me, clients, models, and associates, will all tell you that I am all about being as efficient as possible during a photoshoot. I am going to share with you my tips & tricks on how I achieve efficiency during my shoots.

Two ways to make the most of your photoshoots this year:

  • Plan out your shoot efficiently. Start with getting down to the exact details of the shoot. This allows you to see everything you need for the shoot – props, backdrops, etc. prepared ahead of time so that during the shoot you get all of the shots you desire in an efficient amount of time.

  • A done in a day approach. I borrowed this idea from my friends in the design space where they offer day long intensives or hire me for a day for a project. This is a fun way to have one whole day focused on your product and your business to get as many assets as possible during that timeframe – photos, models, videos, etc. It is important to set the expectations for the day.

When you are planning your shoots efficiently this allows for you to get all of the content you need to be able to market your business and product. It also allows for you to have the time to add extra elements during the shoot that will uplevel your images because you already have a plan and aren’t scrambling to try and remember everything you need to accomplish.

If you are a photographer, I hope these tips will help you to plan your shoots more efficiently in the future. If you are a business owner, I hope these tips will help you know how you can get the most bang for your buck when using a photographer to get content for your business.

If you know your efforts are better spent in other areas of your business and planning out your photoshoots isn’t something you are wanting to do. I recommend reaching out and getting more information about a photography retainer. With my clients, I offer monthly, bi-monthly and quarterly retainers where I help to plan out all of your shoots to ensure that you get the images you desire for your product.
