Why Phone Consults are a MUST when Booking a Shoot
There are several ways to connect with people today. You can text, email, tweet, FB message, DM on Instagram, Snapchat and more… The one form of communication that will never go away is that one on one conversation.
Most of my clients are across the US, so even though I can’t meet in person I strive for the phone call or virtual call. This connection with your client can’t be beat. Here are a few reasons why I think it’s important to have a phone consult BEFORE you book a shoot:
First, you miss out on the genuine connection and ensuring you’re on the same page with one another. There’s nothing like talking to a person to get a feel for their personality, understanding and excitement for what you do.
Second, you get an opportunity to set clear expectations so you can define the outcome of your photoshoot. This is also a great opportunity to ask more question into what the shoot would look like and ensuring one another’s understanding.
Third, you are on the same page with your vision, details and marketing goals. This part is important to how the photographer will photograph your images. Will they leave space, focus on multiple orientations for the image layout and so forth. These attribute to how you will be able to use your images in your business. So you can see why this would be important to talk about.
Lastly, text is great but how many times have we mis-interpreted something someone has said? Many of us have easily misconstrued what a friendly, family member or client has said. Whats a great way to fix this problem? Talk it out! Get clarity and ensure everything will run smoothly.
Not yet ready to hire someone? That’s okay I was there once, too. I created an online course called, The Flat lay Method, to help people like yourself who are still in the do-it-yourself phase. Dive into the mindset, process and layout from a professional, like myself
